It’s not every day you’re forced to shield your child’s eyes while watching children’s television show.  Maya the Bee, a show on Netflix created by Studio 100 Animation and based on a German children’s book, came under fire this week after concerned mothers noticed a crude drawing of a penis in one of the scenes. Nope, this isn’t a debunk-able Disney moment—there are screenshots to prove it.  SEE ALSO: Netflix’s prices are insanely low—enjoy it while you can

Wearer of Chewbacca socks.   The PR train of Canada’s leader continued full steam ahead this week as the man sneakily wore yet another pair of socks that align him with the nerdier parts of his electorate.  Big ol’ Star Wars wookies were peeking out under his pants during a discussion with Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, at the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday.  SEE ALSO: Feast your eyes on this butter sculpture of Justin Trudeau holding 2 pandas Image: Photo by […]

There’s never an age limit when it comes to fighting for what you believe in.  Brennan Gilmore tweeted a photo Sunday of his 97-year-old grandfather, John Middlemas, kneeling in support of the #TakeAKnee movement, started by former San Francisco 49ers football player Colin Kaepernick in 2016 over police violence against African Americans.  President Donald Trump’s outspoken criticism against athletes who don’t stand up for the national anthem sparked this protest among people like Middlemas in solidarity with NFL athletes who kneeled on the field this weekend.  SEE ALSO: #TakeAKnee protests are about police violence, not the military or the Constitution […]

People on the internet are calling for Las Vegas mass shooting to be labeled as a terrorist act

Image: Getty Images How do we distinguish a crime from a terrorist attack? It’s a convoluted conversation that appears after every horrific mass shooting in America, and Sunday night’s Las Vegas attack—the deadliest in U.S. history—is no exception.  As many on Twitter have pointed out, the president did not use the words “terror” or “terrorist” during his remarks about the shooting, despite his flippant use of the term in previous instances on Twitter. Today, the word is the top dictionary lookup online, according to Merriam-Webster, who defines it as “the use of violent acts to frighten the people in an […]

Image: early gibson III/WireImage It’s October 2017 and some fights just won’t die.  Take a look at the most recent intra-resistance clash. In September, organizers of the Women’s March announced that they’d decided to designate the theme of their upcoming convention as the famous Maxine Waters’ quote “Reclaiming Our Time.” The all-powerful Congresswoman would be featured as headliner.  The convention only generated modest amounts of buzz until recently, when organizers revealed that they had invited Senator Bernie Sanders to deliver an opening night speech on October 27th. Cue the hot takes. SEE ALSO: The Resistance is now a lifestyle brand […]

Image: costco  Prepping for the end of the world just got way easier. Beloved bulk retailer Costco is now offering a “1 Year Emergency Food Kit” for anyone who’s getting ready to hunker down at the possibility of disaster. It seems like a pretty simple and smart move for the store, which already sells items in bulk.  The kit will run you $999.99, which is actually pretty reasonable considering it comes with 6,200 servings of food, which is apparently enough to feed one person for an entire year on a 1,200 calorie diet.  According to the kit’s description on Costco’s […]

McDonald’s just answered every vegan’s wish, so no more ordering only french fries.  The fast food chain is testing out a veggie burger, the McVegan in Tampere, Finland. The new burger will only be available until Nov. 21. So, you might want to catch the next flight out if you’re feeling hungry. According to the Finland website, the “McVegan is a 100 percent vegetable-based hamburger, where a soybean steak is spread between the familiar rolls.” Hopefully that sounds good to the people who will eat it.
